Relocation Course (‘Jedi’ Series)
April 23 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Our ‘Navigation Jedi’ series of courses includes this relocation course – or what to do when you are lost. It will take place on the moors close to Ilkley.
Getting lost, disorientated, temporarily misplaced, geographically embarrassed or not being lost, but not knowing where you are. These are all common everyday occurrences to new navigators. They are often the source of great amusement and pub-stories to dine out on. However, at the other end of the scale, navigational errors are often the root cause of many mountain rescue call-outs (including fatalities).
So, it pays to know how to navigate and it pays to avoid mistakes. But, inevitably, through a lapse in concentration or the arrival of poor weather, it’s easy to get caught out.
This relocation course will teach you what to do when that happens. We will cover the mental discipline and mindset needed to get you out of trouble. We will also give you step-by-step techniques that are easy to repeat to work out where you are. On this course you will spend a lot of time ‘lost’ trying to practice these skills until they become second nature.
Maps and compasses will be provided. You just need to bring suitable clothes, food and drink and a headtorch.
