Navigation Courses
Introduction
We run our own bespoke map reading and GPS navigation courses in the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and Eryri (Snowdonia). Our bespoke courses give you more flexibility in what the course covers, and we can teach at a pace that suits you.
Purpose
In the summer months, we run navigation courses in the Yorkshire Dales, Eryri (Snowdonia) and the Lake District for both beginners and more advanced navigators. These courses can be either, or both, navigation using map and compass or GPS navigation. We hold our winter navigation courses in Scotland under full winter conditions.
Beginners courses are just that – no prior knowledge is necessary and this course will teach you all the basics. At intermediate and advanced level, you are more likely to be spending time away from marked paths, and perhaps in poor visibility. We will give you the skills to cope with these more demanding scenarios. Winter courses build on these skills and put them into the context of the winter mountain environment where you need to think differently and there is less room for error.
