Home » Ledge Route, Ben Nevis, in winter

Ledge Route, Ben Nevis, is a justifiably popular winter climb (or summer scramble). Its grade is Grade II with 3 Stars, and almost everybody wants to do at some point. The route weaves its way up the bulk of Carn Dearg buttress, linking a series of massive ledges and ridges. The climbing gets more and more interesting the further up you go and the views and situations are superb.
It is a serious route, however. For example, you should not approach it if there is a heightened risk of avalanche on that part of the mountain.
