Improvers’ Rock Climbing Courses and Coaching

Introduction

We offer a range of rock climbing courses, including improvers’ rock climbing courses and coaching in the Peak District, Yorkshire, the Lake District and Eryri (Snowdonia).

Dates

We do not schedule these in advance on specific dates, as we prefer to make each one bespoke for you and adapt them to cater for different levels of ability and experience.

Purpose

Wherever your rock climbing career has taken you so far, there will come various points at which you recognise that some additional coaching and tuition will reap benefits. Perhaps you want to progress to a harder climbing grade; or perhaps you want to refine your rope-work skills, including rigging top-ropes for your friends to climb on or learning how to abseil from multi-pitch routes.

Whatever the reason, our bespoke intermediate level climbing courses will help you to make the next step on your rock climbing journey.

Instructor:client ratio

Depending on exact aims and activities, there is a ratio of 1:4 (instructor:client) maximum on this course.

Course Details

Who is the course for?

This course will suit anyone who considers themselves to be an improving or developing climber but who has some specific aspect of their climbing that they would like to improve on. This could be something to do with their climbing skills and technique, or something related such as rope-work.

Where is it held?

Our improvers’ rock climbing courses are generally held in the Lake District or Eryri (Snowdonia), but they can also be held in the Peak District.

How long is the course?

Courses are a minimum of one day in duration, but are often booked as a two-day weekend. We can also run the course for longer periods, perhaps separated by a few days to give time for you to reflect and practice, or in one intensive burst, such as a 5-day week long course.

What does the course cover?

This course is completely bespoke. We will discuss your current climbing experience and aspirations in some detail, and identify what would be the most useful aspects of your climbing to improve upon. Together, we will then devise a plan to address those aspects.

What equipment is included?

As an experienced climber, you are already likely to have everything that you need including your own harness, helmet and climbing rack. However, we are able to loan certain items if required.

We will:-

  • Provide climbing ropes.
  • Discuss an appropriate kit list when you book.

What does it cost?

Prices for one day start at £235 for one person; £260 for two people (i.e. £130 per person); £285 for three people (i.e. £95 per person) etc. From the 4th day, a discounted rate will apply.
