Navigation and Map Reading Courses
We offer two different types of courses – our own bespoke navigation and map reading courses in Yorkshire, the Lake District and Snowdonia; and the National Navigation Award Scheme. The first gives you more flexibility in what the course covers, and where it is held. The second, the NNAS scheme, gives you the certainty of a set syllabus as well as the opportunity to gain a recognised certificate. There are pros and cons to each and we can help you decide what is best for you.
Our summer navigation and map reading courses, for both beginners and more advanced navigators, are run in the Yorkshire Dales, Snowdonia and the Lake District. The winter mountain navigation and map reading courses are usually held in Scotland under full winter conditions.
The National Navigation Award Scheme introduces and develops navigation skills, helping people to enjoy the outdoors confidently, through a structured learning programme covering Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. (Ratio 1:8 max depending on exact course)
We are proud to be a member of Harvey’s ‘Working Together’ scheme and are able to offer our clients a discount on purchases of Harvey’s maps.
