We run two different types of courses – first, our own bespoke map reading and navigation courses in the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and Snowdonia; and second, the National Navigation Award Scheme. Our bespoke courses give you more flexibility in what the course covers, and we can teach at a pace that suits you. The second, the NNAS scheme, gives you the certainty of a set syllabus as well as the opportunity to gain a recognised certificate. Consequently there are pros and cons to each and we can help you decide what is best for you.
In the summer months, we run navigation courses in the Yorkshire Dales, Snowdonia and the Lake District for both beginners and more advanced navigators. We hold our winter courses in Scotland under full winter conditions.
The National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) introduces and develops navigation skills, helping people to enjoy the outdoors confidently. It is based on a structured learning programme covering Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. We usually hold our NNAS courses in the Yorkshire Dales.
Additionally, we are proud to be a member of Harvey’s ‘Working Together’ scheme and can offer our clients a discount on purchases of Harvey’s maps.
If you are not only interested in map reading and want more broad skills courses or guiding, then have a look at our other courses:
