Home » The Langdale Pikes at Night

I saw this view of the Langdale Pikes in the Lake District at night during a recent night walk up Bowfell and over to Great End. It’s always fascinating to see what these familiar places look like under different conditions. This is especially true of being out on a walk at night, when everything looks completely different.
As I moved up The Band, I noticed that the moon was illuminating the Pikes. The Plough was positioned directly above the Pikes, shining brightly. I wanted to gain more height to get an improved view. However, the moon was dropping fast and it would soon drop behind Crinkle Crags, switching off my light! I pressed on uphill through until what I thought was the last moment. Then I stopped my walk and quickly set up to take this night shot, looking directly at the Langdale Pikes.
