Personal Clothing & Equipment – Trekking Expedition – Suggested List
This kit list is a generic list for a trekking expedition to places like Kilimanjaro or Everest Base Camp or any non-technical peak at altitude. No climbing equipment is required but cold weather will be encountered.
Clothing
Body
- Base layer underpants (x2-3 depending on duration)
- Base layer T-shirt (x2-3 depending on duration)
- Thick base layer (x1 for summit) – eg long-sleeved, Merino wool
- Light shirt
- Fleece or Primaloft jacket
- Lightweight soft-shell/windproof jacket
- Waterproof jacket
- Down duvet jacket
Legs
- Lightweight trekking trousers
- Shorts
- Thick base layer (x1 for summit) – eg long-sleeved, Merino wool
- Primaloft trousers
- Waterproof trousers
Hands
- Light-weight fleece/liner gloves
- Insulated gloves or mittens
Feet
- Walking/trekking socks (x2)
- Lightweight socks (x2)
- Heavy weight socks (x1) (sized to fit inside boots)

- Sandals/light trainers (for use at camps, in huts etc)
Head
- Sun-hat with neck protection
- Sun-glasses (Cat 3)
- Warm hat

- Sleeping mat (eg Thermarest)
