Home » Bidean nam Bian, Glencoe

Bidean nam Bian is Glencoe’s highest peak, at 1150m. It is a complex mountain, with several subsidiary peaks and a number of ridges. Therefore the terrain is serious, and in poor weather good navigation is essential to avoid steep cliffs. One of its subsidiary peaks, Stob Coire Sgreamhach (1072m), is classified as a Munro, as is Bidean itself. Also, two of the other peaks, Stob Coire nan Lochain (1115m) and Stob Coire nam Beith (1107m), are Munro ‘tops’.
This photo was taken on the summit of Stob Coire nan Lochan during an introductory winter skills course. It shows the view looking south towards Bidean nam Bian.
