Introduction
An advanced scrambling course in Eryri (Snowdonia) is the perfect way to develop your scrambling skills or simply to come on some scrambles that you wouldn’t otherwise undertake alone.
With the exception of a couple of parts of Scotland, the scrambling available in Eryri (Snowdonia) is generally the best in the whole of the UK. That in turn, has its roots in the geological history of Eryri. Ancient volcanic activity, millions of years of erosion and finally glaciation have created sharp rocky peaks and ridges. This really is a paradise for scramblers.

Advanced Scrambling Course in Eryri (Snowdonia)
On our advanced scrambling courses, the aim is likely to be twofold. We will aim to give you experience of moving on harder scrambling terrain, such as Grade 3 scrambles. You will begin to appreciate the additional exposure on these routes and feel just how much more serious they are compared to Grade 1s. We will also be introducing you to some of the rope work used to safeguard scrambles, so that your level of knowledge increases too.
You could find yourself on the Dolmen Ridge (above) or the Clogwyn y Person Arete (below) on an advanced scrambling course. Perched high on the sides of Garnedd Ugain, the arête is one of Eryri’s best Grade 3 scrambles. It is a brilliant route to do and we often use it on our courses. You can practise the rope skills associated with harder mountain scrambles and alpine mountaineering skills, such as moving together.

Advanced Scrambling on Tryfan
Many people are familiar with the North, and South, ridges of Tryfan. Fewer are aware of the wealth of superb climbing and scrambling on the East Face, and to a lesser extent on the West Face.
The long routes on the complex East Face are popular regulars on our advanced and learn to lead scrambling courses.
